The third day of the 2022 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships competition in Konya (Turkiye) put local karatekas in the spotlight. Turkiye with three tickets to the finals and Morocco, Algeria, and North Macedonia with two final spots were the big winners of the day.

Hosts of Turkiye started the day on a high note and they soon earned one more spot in the finals. Omer Faruk Yurur qualified for the title-deciding bout of U21 Kumite Male -75kg. He will clash for the title against Alireza Heydariyasavoli of Iran.

It was not the only reason to celebrate for the organising country. Gulbahar Gozutok also qualified for the final as she reached the title-deciding bout in U21 Kumite Female -61kg. The other side of the tatami will be taken by Reem Khamis of Germany.

Turkey’s celebration was wrapped up in the category of U21 Kumite Female -68kg. Sudenur Aksoy took the flag of the host nation to the final of the category, against Thalya Sombe of France.

 

It was a successful day for the Moroccan delegation as well, as they qualified two competitors for the finals. Said Oubaya made it to the last bout of U21 Kumite Male -67kg while Hiba Fellaoui reached the final round of U21 Kumite Female -50kg. Their rivals are Abdallah Hammad of Jordan and Cylia Ouikene of Algeria, respectively.

The Algerian delegation also completed a deserving day. In addition to Cylia Ouikene’s qualification to the final, Louiza Abouriche also made it to the final, in U21 Kumite Female -55kg. Her rival is Bella Samasheva of Kazakhstan.

The last of the delegations taking two representatives to the finals was North Macedonia. Stefan Stojanovikj reached the finals for the Balkan country in U21 Kumite Male +84kg where he will clash against Sanad Sufyani of Saudi Arabia.

 

North Macedonia’s Vitomir Trajkovski demonstrated the efficiency of the Balkan nation in heavier categories as he reached the final bout of U21 Kumite Male -84kg. His rival is Matteo Fiore of Italy.

The final of U21 Kumite Male -60kg between Pavle Dujakovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Aminagha Guliyev of Azerbaijan, and the clash of U21 Kumite Female +68kg between Sara Terawaza of Japan and Martina Sachova of the Czech Republic completed the list of finalists of the day.
