President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev began his working visit to New York with a meeting with the head of the Canadian multinational company, during which the prospects for cooperation in the uranium industry were discussed.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Cameco has been a longstanding and reliable partner of the national company Kazatomprom. Since the beginning of its operations in Kazakhstan, the company has invested over $500 million and contributed to the transfer of technologies.

President Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan is entering a new stage in the development of its energy sector, setting the goal of building three nuclear power plants. He underlined the country’s interest in innovative methods applied in the nuclear industry.

For his part, Tim Gitzel informed the President about the current activities and plans of the joint venture “Inkai”, which has been developing the eponymous deposit in the Turkistan region for more than 25 years.

14 September 2023, on the sidelines of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the G77 and China in Havana, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Farhod Salim met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo.

 

 

 

 

At the meeting the parties discussed the prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Cuba in the spheres of health, education, tourism and sport, as well as mutual collaboration within the international organizations.
